Rio Grande #5387 SD40T-2 Scale Trains Rivet Counter HO Locomotive with DCC+Sound
This is the Scale Trains Rivet Counter version of D&RGW #5387 SD40T-2 with DCC and sound. The locomotive is equipped with an ESU LokSound decoder which includes an on-board backup power source (similar to the TCS Keep Alive) to allow the locomotive to operate across unpowered frogs and the like. I have listed this model as Used. I have programmed the road number (5387) into the decoder, but all other decoder settings are the factory settings. I ran the locomotive around a test oval for about 15 minutes - enough to test all sounds and lighting effects, but not enough to allow the mechanism to properly run in. The manual provides instructions for resetting the decoder to factory values with a single command. Otherwise, the model is in new condition. I bought this model because I fell in love with it: I especially love the snowplow-style front pilot. Unfortunately, I model the Rio Grande in the early 1960s. It is possible that this locomotive will operate on DC current (many modern DCC decoders provide for this), but the Owner's Manual does not mention this feature.
I strongly recommend operating this locomotive on DCC systems only. This will certainly be necessary to access all of the lighting and sound effects.
As I said earlier, this is the Rivet Counter version of the model; it is loaded with small detail parts which are fragile and easily broken. Take great care when unpacking and placing on the track!
